MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday reported 843 new recovered cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19), pushing the nationwide total to 312,333.

The DOH also reported 1,664 newly-confirmed Covid-19 cases which bring the total tally of active cases to 44,772.

Cavite tops the list of areas with the most number of new cases with 81 infections, followed by City of Malabon with 76, Davao City with 76, Iloilo City with 75, and Quezon City with 69.

Of the active cases, the DOH noted that 83.6 percent of the active cases are patients with mild symptoms, 11.2 percent are asymptomatic, 3.3 percent are critical and 1.9 percent are severe.

The DOH logged 38 deaths, pushing the total number of fatalities nationwide to 6,783.

"Of the 38 deaths, 25 or 66 percent occurred in October, nine or 24 percent in September, one or 3 percent in August, one or 3 percent in July, one or 3 percent in June, and one or 3 percent in May," it said.

Adjusting its Covid-19 data, the DOH removed 19 duplicates from the total case count -- of these, five were recovered cases and two were deaths.

"Moreover, 11 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths. These numbers undergo constant cleaning and validation," it said.

As of Wednesday, the DOH reported, 45 percent of the intensive care unit beds and 43 percent of the isolation beds were occupied.

It added only 37 percent of ward beds were occupied and 22 percent of 2,100 ventilators dedicated for Covid-19 patients were in use. (PNA
