MANILA – Mendiola's backline held forth against Kaya Iloilo in Friday’s crucial Philippines Football League battle at the PFL National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite that ended in a goalless draw.
Goalkeeper Kenry Balobo became a pivotal figure for Mendiola in stoppage time, saving the ball from late attempts of Audie Menzi and Jovin Bedic to preserve a clean sheet.
The draw only pulled Kaya Iloilo up to eight points after four matches, just one point behind league-leading United City.
However, United City could clinch the PFL title outright later Friday if it beats Stallion Laguna.
Meanwhile, despite staying at the bottom of the table, the draw assures that Mendiola would not leave the bubble season blanked. (PNA)
