MANILA – The delegation of the Manila Chooks squad for the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Doha Masters has been cleared to participate in the event after everyone in the group tested negative for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Joshua Munzon, Alvin Pasaol, Troy Rike, and Santi Santillan got the confirmation of their reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test results through text messages at about 2 p.m. local time on Tuesday (7 p.m. in Manila).

However, the team will remain in isolation until Wednesday, although they can dine in the restaurants within the Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel.

"Hindi pa rin makalabas kaya review muna ng video at exercise muna rito sa kwarto (We still cannot get out, so we are just reviewing the videos and doing exercises in our rooms for the meantime)," said Pasaol, the designated team captain.

Santillan added, "Okay lang naman sa amin 'yun kasi business trip naman talaga ito (That is okay with us because this is a business trip)."

The FIBA 3x3 World Tour Doha Masters happening this weekend will be played through a semi-bubble setup, that is, the teams will be strictly transported back and forth from Marriott to the Al Gharafa Sports Complex without any stopover.

The hotel and the arena are 12.1 km. apart.

The winner of the Doha Masters will receive USD40,000 (almost PHP1.93 million), while four runners-up will also get cash prizes. (PNA)
