MANILA – About 98.2 percent of health workers who contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) have recovered, the Department of Health (DOH) said Monday.

Its latest Covid-19 situation report shows that 14,535 healthcare workers tested positive for Covid-19. Of this number, 14,271 have recovered. Some 82 have died from the disease.

There are 182 current active cases -- 87 are mild, 73 are asymptomatic, 12 are in severe condition, eight are in critical condition and two are in moderate condition.

Earlier, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said the government would adhere to the World Health Organization’s advice to allocate the first batch of Covid-19 vaccines from the COVAX Facility for healthcare workers.

He said the 1.9 million healthcare workers nationwide would be prioritized in the vaccination program.

The country is set to receive the first wave of Pfizer-BioNTech and Covid-19 vaccines from the COVAX Facility starting mid-February. (PNA)
