MANILA – To make the games as very competitive as possible, the VisMin Super Cup will be handing out cash prizes to the two teams that will make it to the first grand finals.

"Our overall champion would receive PHP500,000, while the runner-up will receive PHP100,000 for this tournament," league owner Rocky Chua said on Thursday in the Usapang Sports Forum.

Twelve teams will compete in the inaugural staging of the newest regional basketball league in the Philippines.

The inaugural staging of the VisMin Super Cup will be played in a bubble format.

The first leg, pitting Visayas teams, will tip off on April 9.

It was announced at the forum that the town of Alcantara in Cebu will now host the Visayas bubble.

"We are undergoing the rehabilitation [of the gym to be used] to conform with the specifications of GAB (Games and Amusements Board)," Alcantara mayor Fritz Lastimoso said.

Some amenities already completed in the arena, Lastimoso said, are the dugouts that the team will use for the games.

The venue is located inside the compound of the municipal hall.

"I can cordon the whole area so we could preserve the bubble," Lastimoso added. (PNA)
