DIPOLOG CITY – More than half of residents here are willing to get the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccine, the city government bared on Friday.

Mayor Darel Uy said an online survey showed 54 percent of the respondents are willing to get vaccinated.

“We welcome the result of the survey. According to the online survey that we have conducted, more than half or 54 percent of the respondents are willing,” Uy said during an interview with the Network Briefing News hosted by Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar.

The survey also showed 34 percent were undecided while the remaining 12 percent were hesitant.

“We also have ongoing house-to-house surveys. As of Friday, there are eight barangays scheduled for surveys by our city health workers,” he said.

Dipolog also holds information campaigns to disseminate vaccine details and other Covid-19 responses.

Global Mayors Challenge

Uy conveyed the city’s participation in Bloomberg’s 2021 Global Mayors Challenge, a competition for local government units that will highlight the innovations of participants in the wake of the pandemic.

Dipolog is currently creating a project that will provide a positive impact while curbing the negative effects of Covid-19 and ensuring that residents are safe and healthy.

Among the city’s projects is the construction of a three-story annex building of the city hospital. It will cost the city PHP150 million but will prepare it for future health crises. (PCOO)
