MANILA – Filipino mixed martial arts fighter Mark Abelardo returned to his winning ways in style, knocking out American opponent Emilio Urrutia at ONE: Fists of Fury 2 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

In a showdown that was only aired on Friday night, Abelardo showed his striking prowess late into Round 1 and eventually finished off Urrutia in the second round.

After what seemed like an even showing from both fighters early into Round 1, Abelardo landed a series of elbow strikes that rocked Urrutia.

Urrutia survived the first round but come Round 2, Abelardo knocked him out with a right hook, prompting the referee to stop the contest at the 3:25 mark.

Abelardo bounced from back-to-back losses and moved up to 20-8 overall.

Urrutia, on the other hand, lost for the fourth straight time and slipped to 11-8. (PNA)
