CEBU CITY – To prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-2019) transmission, the business community in Cebu has decided to forego activities related to the annual Cebu Business Month (CBM) which may result to overcrowding.

The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) on Friday said in a statement that this year’s celebration will still be held virtually.

The chamber also announced that Cebuano entrepreneur Michael Cubos remains the chairman of this year’s CBM celebration.

CBM is the biggest annual event of the CCCI and the business community here where traditionally, physical conferences, trade shows, among other events, are held in June.

However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the CBM last year, also chaired by Cubos, was forced to shift its usual physical activities to online platforms as big physical events were strictly prohibited. Several events were even postponed.

Despite the uncertainties brought by the Covid-19 pandemic, the CBM 2020 was able to push through with its events as it capitalized on technology to create more innovative and wide-ranging webinars and forums that continued until November 2020.

“We will push and make the Cebu Chamber beyond its standard,” Cubos told the local press here when asked about his direction for CBM 2021.

He also emphasized utilizing the CBM App which will serve as a platform for virtual programs and virtual exhibits for participants and the use and implementation of technology.

Cubos is the founder of homegrown firm Performance360 Call Center and BPO Services.

Cubos was named CBM 2020 chairperson after succeeding entrepreneur Lilu Aliño. (PNA)
