WASHINGTON – Phil Mickelson won the PGA Championship at the age of 50 to become golf's oldest major champion on Sunday.

The previous record was held by another American Julius Boros, who won the 1968 PGA Championship at 48 years old.

Mickelson ground out a final-round one-over-par 73 on Sunday to finish the 72 holes with six-under 282.

Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa and Brooks Koepka of the United States tied for second place on 284.

Oosthuizen finished the final round with 73 and Koepka finished with 74.

The victory was Mickelson's second PGA Championship win and sixth-career major overall. (Xinhua)
