MANILA – There will be one less team for the remainder of the Pilipinas VisMin Cup Mindanao Leg as Iligan has already backed out of the tournament.

Chief Operating Officer Rocky Chan confirmed the development on Friday.

"There was an internal problem and they decided to pull out," Chan said, without disclosing further details.
League officials met with the participating coaches the night before regarding the Archangels' situation.

It was then resolved that Iligan, which lost its first five games prior to its decision to leave the league, will have its last three games in the leg eliminations forfeited.

"'Yung remaining games ng Iligan, considered as winner na 'yung opponent (In Iligan's remaining games, its opponents will be considered the winners)," said Caro.

With this development, Zamboanga City and Pagadian, two teams fighting for the third seed come the quarterfinals, got one win each and moved up to 4-2 and 5-3, respectively.

Zamboanga del Sur also benefited from the forfeiture and is now tied with MisOr in sixth place at 2-3.

With Iligan leaving, the aforementioned teams plus unbeaten squads Clarin and Basilan, Roxas, and Kapatagan have all clinched spots in the quarterfinals and will now just fight for the final seeding. (PNA)
