Unvaccinated Irving did not attend practice due to NYC protocols

ANKARA – Brooklyn Nets superstar guard Kyrie Irving, 29, did not take part in Tuesday's practice after he refused to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

"Kyrie Irving did not attend Nets practice today, sources tell me and @Alex__Schiffer. Irving is currently ineligible for home games and practices because of NYC’s vaccination requirement," NBA insider Shams Charania Tuesday said on Twitter.

Players in the NBA are not currently mandated to receive the vaccine against the coronavirus, but in some cities such as New York City and San Francisco, players must take the vaccine to be on the court at home.

Roughly 90 percent of NBA players have been vaccinated, but some are reportedly not vaccinated.

Golden State Warriors' Andrew Wiggins was among unvaccinated players but recently changed his decision and received his coronavirus jab to play for his team.

Canadian small forward Wiggins, 26, previously applied for a religious exemption but the NBA denied his request. (Anadolu)
