3-day anti-crime ops yield P23-M shabu

CEBU CITY – Police seized suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP23 million during a three-day region-wide anti-criminality campaign that also resulted in the arrest of more than 900 individuals.

The report from the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 (Central Visayas) released on Thursday said the arrests were made during simultaneous operations across the region on Feb. 25-28.

The operation yielded 3,406.65 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP23,165,220 and 12 grams of marijuana valued at PHP1,440, and the arrest of 225 drug suspects.

Also arrested during the three-day operation were 313 illegal gamblers.

The police also recovered 184 firearms and three explosives from 17 persons who were arrested during the same operations.

The report also said that 365 warrants of arrest were served to 37 most wanted persons while 317 others tagged as "other wanted persons" were also rounded up.

The arrested suspects are now in police custody waiting for the charges to be filed against them.
