BUTUAN CITY – The Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 (Caraga Region) is honing the capabilities of its personnel on security and protection, especially on local government officials and individuals with validated threats.
“This is in response to the recent attacks on government officials in other areas of the country and aimed to enhance the capabilities of Caraga cops in ensuring VIP (very important person) security and protection,” PRO-13 Director Brig. Gen. Pablo Labra II said in a statement Wednesday.
On Tuesday, 71 police personnel completed their five-day VIP Security and Protection Orientation (VIPSPO) seminar conducted by the PRO-13's Regional Learning and Doctrine Development Division and the Regional Police Security and Protection Unit.
“Some of these police personnel are already providing security to elected government officials and other VIPs with validated threats,” Labra said.
He reminded the trained personnel not to be complacent despite the success of ensuring zero incidents involving high-profile individuals in Caraga.
Labra added that any imminent harm done to persons they protect would be detrimental to the image of the Philippine National Police as protectors of the people.
“We do not lower our guards because the risk is always there,” he said. (PNA)
