BACOLOD CITY – Classes were suspended at the Rafael B. Lacson Memorial High School in Talisay City, Negros Occidental after a hand grenade and dried marijuana leaves were found in the possession of a 21-year-old Grade 10 male student on Tuesday.
The student was identified as Bronson Lucas Lacson, a resident of Barangay Zone 6.
Lt. Abegael Donasco, deputy chief of the Talisay City Police Station, said Lacson was arrested inside the school at about 9:15 a.m. after they received a complaint from a pedicab driver whom the student earlier threatened to hit with the hand grenade.
“The pedicab driver reported the incident to the barangay, which also reported it to us,” she said.
Donasco noted that as a standard operating procedure, the students were evacuated to allow the explosives ordnance disposal unit to ensure that the school premises is safe.
A police report showed that along with the hand grenade, Lacson also yielded a sachet of marijuana buds worth PHP120 and a tooter when he was frisked.
Donasco said they have yet to determine where Lacson got the hand grenade.
“We (are conducting) an investigation and securing the affidavits of witnesses,” she said.
Charges for grave threat, illegal possession of explosive, and illegal possession of dangerous drug are being readied against the student. (PNA)
