CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is fast-tracking the rehabilitation of a bridge and slip lane along the Nueva Ecija-Aurora Road to ensure the safety and convenience of travelers.

With a combined cost of PHP19 million, the two projects involve the ongoing repairs of the Tablang bridge in Palayan City and the slip road along the Barangay Calaanan Section in Bongabon town.

District Engineer Elpidio Trinidad on Thursday said the Tablang Bridge is an important access point for travelers going between Palayan City, Cabanatuan City and the towns of Bongabon, Laur and Gabaldon.

On the other hand, Trinidad said the project in Barangay Calaanan is the reconstruction of the part of the road that was eroded.

He said the ongoing rehabilitation works are targeted to be completed by the second quarter of the year.

“We hope that it will ensure the safety of travelers and prevent further closure of the bridge for repairs,” Trinidad said in a statement.

Assistant District Engineer Robert Jay Panaligan said they are eager to complete the rehabilitation projects for the convenience of the motorists.

“Many motorists travel through this national road, especially the Tablang Bridge,“ he noted. (PNA)
