SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The Antique Rehabilitation Center (ARC) has transported 22 male persons deprived of liberty (PDL) to be remitted to the National Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City on Tuesday.

They are among the 61 PDL sent to the rehabilitation center prior to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic but were not transferred to the NBP due to movement restrictions, ARC jail warden Eduardo Ebon said in an interview.

“The PDL have to be transported to the NBP where they will serve their six to 10 years sentences for crimes such as homicide and murder,” Ebon said.

The PDL accompanied by 15 jail guards boarded a hired roll-on/roll-off (RORO) bus going to Manila.

Prior to travel, they underwent health checks conducted by the Antique provincial hospital and were certified negative for Covid-19.

Ebon said that while at the ARC, the PDL availed of skills training including carpentry, electrical installation management, and welding training from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

“The PDL have now the acquired skills that could help them find livelihood after serving their sentences at the NBP,” Ebon said. (PNA)
