CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Northern Mindanao (LTFRB-10) is expediting the consolidation process of public utility vehicles (PUVs) as a requirement for the PUV modernization program.

In an interview, LTFRB-10 director Amenodin Guro said the consolidation of PUVs, whose deadline is set on Dec. 31, is necessary so that operators can finally transition as transport cooperatives.

"The consolidation is almost accomplished, especially in the major routes of the region which are Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City," he said.

Guro said this city alone has so far consolidated almost 2,000 modern vehicles.

The LTFRB central office, he said, issued a memorandum Friday reiterating the need for consolidation and the completion of the draft of the Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP) from the local government units (LGUs) for major routes.

Guro said only this city has so far complied in Northern Mindanao. (PNA)
