MANILA - The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Tropical Storm Dodong has left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Saturday afternoon.

In its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, the bureau said Dodong, while already outside PAR, will still continue to enhance the southwest monsoon (habagat), bringing frequent rains in many part of Luzon.

“Dodong will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon. This weather system will continue to bring occasional to frequent rains over the western portions of Luzon,” it said.

Monsoon rains will continue to affect areas in Ilocos Region, Mimaropa, Zambales and Bataan.

Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan and Western Visayas will still experience occasional rains.

Meanwhile, some 19 families evacuated as of Saturday morning due to flooding, according to the Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

In an interview on Saturday, PDRRMO operations supervisor Patrick Aquino said the families were from Bani, Bolinao, and Sual towns.

“The families from Bani and Bolinao are staying in the evacuation centers but the families from Sual went to stay with their relatives,” he said.

The local disaster risk reduction and management office of Alaminos City also reported that they evacuated some families from the low-lying barangays. The actual data, however, is still being consolidated. (With a report from Hilda Austria/PNA)
