LEGAZPI CITY – Operatives of the Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO5) arrested a high-value individual and seized PHP3.4 million worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Cararayan, Naga City on Sunday.

In an interview on Monday, Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, PRO5 spokesperson, identified the suspect as Quincy Nieto, 37, a high-value individual and resident of Barangay Monserrat, Magarao town in Camarines Sur.

"The suspect was considered a high-value individual due to his engagement in the sale of drugs. Nieto was arrested after selling 50 grams of shabu to a police undercover. During a body search, the police operatives in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Bicol discovered an additional 450 grams of shabu sealed in five transparent plastic sachets, along with 10 grams of marijuana," Calubaquib said.

The authorities also confiscated a digital weighing scale, a glass pipe containing suspected marijuana residue, and other personal belongings from the suspect.

Calubaquib said marking and inventory of the confiscated evidence were done in front of witnesses.

Nieto was handed over to Police Station 6 of the Naga City Police Office for custodial investigation and inquest proceedings. He will face charges of violating Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Brig. Gen. Westrimundo Obinque Jr., PRO5 regional director, commended the operating teams for successfully apprehending the notorious drug individual.

He has also ordered an investigation to trace the source of the suspect's drug supply. (PNA)
