MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized PHP1.6 million worth of suspected shabu from three high-value target individuals in a buy-bust operation in the province's Sison town on Tuesday.
PDEA Pangasinan provincial head Rechie Camacho, in an interview, identified the suspects as Yuri John Salazar, who was the main subject of the operation; his brother, Jerome Salazar, both residents of Urdaneta City; and Rayhannah Sultan, a resident of Cavite.
“One of our agents bought from them 225 grams of suspected shabu and they agreed to meet. The operation was conducted in Sison town, Pangasinan on Tuesday,” he said.
He added that the suspects were considered high-value due to the amount of illegal drugs they had transacted.
Camacho said Yuri was arrested in 2021 for allegedly running a drug den in his residence but his case was dismissed due to technicalities.
“We will make sure that the case this time [the case against him] will be airtight,” he said.
The suspect was monitored by law enforcers who eventually conducted the buy-bust operation that led to his arrest.
“Despite the bad weather, they persisted in their illegal drug activities. And so we are also not hindered by the weather in conducting this activity,” he said.
The suspects are under the custody of the PDEA and the charges against them will be filed on Wednesday, Camacho said. (PNA)
