BACOLOD CITY  – The City of Victorias in Negros Occidental will soon open the province's first "Dairy Box", a one-stop outlet for carabao dairy products, with the assistance of the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Carabao Center and the Office of Senator Cynthia Villar.

The construction of the dairy processing plant and product outlet at the Bangga Daan Satellite Market, which are components of the PHP10-million Carabao-Based Business Improvement Network (CBIN) project, is now ongoing,

Dr. John Michael Cabuguason, city veterinarian, said the San Antonio Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SAFMPC), an organization of agrarian reform beneficiaries, has been selected as the project’s conduit partner that will manage and operate the Dairy Box, which is worth about PHP3.7 million.

"It will be the first in Negros Occidental. The construction is ongoing after the groundbreaking earlier this month. It is targeted to be completed in four months," he said.

Cabuguason said the SAFMPC will develop and distribute carabao dairy products under the brand name Victorias Dairy (ViDa).

"Once the milk outlet will be completed, they can formally sell the ViDa products," he added.

Under the CBIN, the city government has been provided with 64 dairy carabaos as well as training and capacity development for the establishment of the Dairy Box outlet and milk processing center. (PNA)
