MANILA – Typhoon Falcon has intensified and continues to enhance the southwest monsoon, which will cause rains and gusty winds across Luzon and Western Visayas until Wednesday.

In its 5 p.m. bulletin Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Falcon now packs maximum sustained winds of 165 kph near the center with gustiness of up to 205 kph.

It was last tracked 1,020 km. east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, and is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday.

Heavy rainfall is forecast over the western portion of Luzon and the Visayas in the next three days due to the enhanced southwest monsoon.

Flooding and rain-induced landslides are expected, especially in areas highly susceptible to these hazards.

While the hoisting of wind signals remains unlikely, gusty conditions continue to prevail over Zambales, Bataan, the central and southern portions of Aurora, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, and most of Ilocos Region, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region and Western Visayas.

On Tuesday, strong winds will also be experienced over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, the central and southern portions of Aurora, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, and most of Ilocos Region, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, and Western Visayas.

Gusty winds, especially in coastal and upland or mountainous areas, will prevail in the following areas on Wednesday: Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Aurora, Zambales, Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, the western portion of Northern Samar, and most of Western Visayas.

Meanwhile, moderate to rough seas will still prevail over the coastal waters along the northern, western and southern seaboards of Luzon.

PAGASA advised mariners of small seacrafts to take precautionary measures when venturing over these waters. (PNA)
