MANILA – The southwest monsoon (habagat) will continue to dampen Luzon on Wednesday, the weather bureau said.

Monsoon rains will be experienced over Zambales and Bataan, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said, warning of flooding or landslides due to scattered to widespread heavy rains,.

Metro Manila, the Ilocos region and the provinces of Pampanga, Bulacan, and Occidental Mindoro will experience occasional rains.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over the Cordillera region, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of Mimaropa.

Moderate to at times heavy rains can result in flash floods or landslides, according to PAGASA.

The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Severe thunderstorms can also cause floods and landslides.

Meanwhile, Luzon will have strong winds and rough seas.

Rough to very rough seas are forecast over the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon (Batanes, northern coast of Ilocos Norte, and northern coast of Cagayan, including the Babuyan Islands).

Fishing boats and other small vessels are advised not to venture into the sea, while larger vessels are alerted against big waves.

The Visayas, on the other hand, will have moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)
