MANILA – Police officers arrested a Chinese national for engaging in medical practice without a license in Makati City.
In a statement on Friday, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief Maj. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr. said the suspect, Haitao Gong, 34, was arrested in an operation along Salamanca St., Poblacion, Makati City on July 31.
The operation stemmed from the complaint lodged by a certain Jian Huang against Gong, who allegedly manages and operates the "Avonnea Skin Care Center," which offers various cosmetic treatments and procedures.
Acting on the complaint, agents of CIDG - National Capital Region (NCR) launched an entrapment, which resulted in the apprehension of the suspect after he was caught in the act of performing medical services.
Gong also failed to present any pertinent documents for his authority and license to practice the medical profession.
He yielded several pieces of medical equipment such as syringes, and various cosmetic products such as botox, repairing serum, and skin enzyme mask, as well as a marked PHP1,000 bill.
The confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to CIDG-NCR for proper documentation and disposition while the arrested suspect will face criminal charges for violating Republic Act 2382 or The Medical Act of 1959. (PNA)
