MANILA – A huge part of the country will experience warm weather and rain showers due to the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms, the weather bureau said Monday.

The southwest monsoon will cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan, Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga and the Visayas.

Moderate to heavy rains in those areas may also cause flooding or landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

"The rest of the country will experience warm weather, especially from noon until afternoon. Rain showers that may last for two hours are also likely in the afternoon and evening," PAGASA forecaster Obet Badrina said in the agency's 5 a.m. weather bulletin.

Up to 35 °C temperature is forecast in Tuguegarao; up to 33 °C in Laoag and Kalayaan Islands; and up to 32 °C in Metro Manila, Legazpi and Puerto Princesa.

The temperature may also reach up to 32 °C in Iloilo, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga and Davao.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will continue to prevail across Luzon. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.

Meanwhile, Badrina said no weather disturbance was seen inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. There is only a slim chance for the country to have a tropical cyclone in two to three days, he said. (PNA)
