BACOLOD CITY – Some PHP477.7 million in infrastructure and enterprise projects proposed under the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) are being implemented in various local government units (LGU) in Negros Occidental.

Data from the provincial government on Wednesday showed these are situated in 12 cities and municipalities across the province.

“As we maximize all the resources and mechanisms available for the development of the province’s agriculture sector, these are the approved and ongoing projects under the PRDP,” Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said.

Being constructed is the PHP63-million Himogaan Bridge III in Sagay City as well as the LGU abattoirs totaling PHP290 million in San Carlos City, municipalities of Hinoba-an, Cauayan, Murcia, Binalbagan GTP and Toboso.

Others include the coffee processing and marketing enterprises in the cities of Cadiz and Sipalay, and La Castellana town amounting to PHP64.7 million; PHP17.4-million goat breeding and marketing enterprise facilities in Calatrava; PHP22.9-million Salvaticam native chicken production facility in Pontevedra; and PHP19.7-million virgin coconut oil processing and marketing enterprise in Cauayan.

The projects are being established through the DA-PRDP funded by the World Bank with counterparts from the national government and the Negros Occidental provincial government.

Projects already completed and inaugurated earlier this year included the PHP76.2-million Himogaan Bridge in Sagay City and the almost PHP26-million muscovado production and marketing enterprise facility in Kabankalan City. (PNA)
