SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The provincial government of Antique paid PHP1.87 million to buy 13 parcels of land that will be affected by the construction of the drainage system project at the National Housing Authority (NHA) relocation site in Barangay Lugta in Laua-an town.
The money was released to eight of the nine lot owners for their land with a total area of 2,147.85 square meters near the relocation site on Aug. 16, said Eby Archangel Butiong, head of the Antique Provincial Housing Affairs and Resettlement Office in an interview on Thursday.
Butiong, who is also a secretariat member for the Provincial Housing Board Task Force Lugta, said they hope to complete the payment before the end of August.
“Hopefully, by September, when all the lot owners have already been paid, the construction of the drainage system or box culvert that would resolve the flood problem could also commence,” Butiong said.
The Antique Provincial Engineering Office will implement the construction of the box culvert drainage project.
“The contractor and NHA will also repair the (damaged) housing units for turnover by November or just before the end of this year,” Butiong added.
The 770-unit housing will have victims of typhoons Yolanda and Paeng as target recipients. (PNA)
