BUTUAN CITY – Some 1,538,551 Philippine Identification Cards (ePhilIDs) have been distributed in the Caraga Region as of July this year, data from the regional Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA-13) office released Friday.

Of the total number of ePhilIDs distributed, 27.7 percent or 427,451 were issued in Agusan del Norte, including Butuan City.

In Agusan del Sur, some 411,126 ePhilIDs have been issued to residents while 246,047 were distributed in Surigao del Norte.

A total of 386,269 ePhilIDs were also issued to residents in Surigao del Sur while 67,658 were released in Dinagat Islands province.

The distribution of the ePhilIDs is part of the implementation of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).

“This accomplishment represents a significant step forward in the PhilSys implementation," PSA-13 said.

The distribution of ePhilIDs in the region, it added, underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing public services and providing a more secure and efficient national identification system for all Filipinos.

The issuance of ePhilIDs is mandated by Republic Act No. 11055, or the Philippine Identification System Act, which aims to establish a single national identification system for Filipinos. (PNA)
