Over P4-M worth of shabu seized in two separate ops in C. Luzon

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Over PHP4 million worth of shabu were seized in two anti-illegal drug operations in Central Luzon on Thursday.

In his report on Friday, Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. director of the Police Regional Office-Central Luzon (PRO-3), said operatives arrested two suspects and confiscated PHP4,080,000 worth of shabu in Angeles City, this province, and in Mariveles, Bataan.

Matarentis Mariga, 25, listed as a high-value individual and a resident of San Miguel, Quiapo, Manila, was arrested in in Tangle Road, Purok 1, Barangay Cutud, Angeles City with 450 grams of shabu valued at PHP3,060,000.

In Mariveles, a buy-bust led to the arrest of 33-year-old fisherman Rei John Sebastian.

Seized from Sebastian were 150 grams of shabu with an estimated value of PHP1,020,000 and a caliber .38 revolver loaded with three rounds of ammunition.

The suspects are facing criminal charges for violation of the Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act).

In addition, Sebastian will be charged under Republic Act 10591, also known as Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

"I commend our troops for successfully arresting individuals involved in high-value illegal drugs. The PRO-3 remains committed to eradicating the use and sale of prohibited drugs,” Hidalgo said in a statement. (PNA)
