MANILA – The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Monday said it is working on the deportation of a Polish fugitive who was nabbed last week following intelligence-sharing with Poland.

In a statement, the BI said a certain Cezary Krynski, 48, is facing a string of criminal cases including fraud, forgery and swindling, in Poland.

"The arrest stemmed from information obtained from Polish authorities through the PNP (Philippine National Police)'s Intelligence Group stating that Krynski is the subject of a warrant of arrest issued by the district court in Bielsko-Biala for fraud, swindling, and forgery," it said.

Aside from being wanted in Poland, Krynski is also included on the notice list of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).

The BI added that the Polish is overstaying in the Philippines.

Krynski was nabbed last Aug. 16 through a joint operation with the PNP Intelligence Group, National Capital Region Police Office, Philippine Center on Transnational Crime and Interpol National Central Bureau-Manila.

He is now under BI custody at Bicutan in Taguig City while awaiting deportation.

Prostitution-linked trafficking

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco, meanwhile, vowed Sunday to pursue an investigation against prostitution-linked human traffickers.

This came following the interception of two possible human trafficking victims at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 last Aug. 17.

In a separate statement, Tansingco said two female victims, identified as alias Ria and Ina and both in their early 20s, disclosed the involvement of several prostitution-linked personalities.

“At least five names have been mentioned, and we have forwarded this information to the IACAT (Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking) for investigation," he said.

Tansingco assured an intensified coordination with IACAT to go after the perpetrators.

"We will be actively involved in pursuing this case to put an end to this trafficking ring... We are one with the IACAT in the drive to locate and arrest these illegal recruiters,” he added.

During the interrogation, the victims said they were instructed to pretend as colleagues going on a vacation in Malaysia.

Some inconsistencies, however, led authorities to discover that they were illegally recruited.

Both of them eventually disclosed that they were hired as "entertainers" with a PHP60,000 monthly rate in Singapore. (PNA)
