CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Police Regional Office-3 (PRO-3) seized over PHP6.7 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 153 drug suspects during weeklong operations in the region.

PRO-3 chief Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr. said that from Aug. 14-20, an estimated PHP6,763,900 worth of illegal drugs were confiscated in the region.

The biggest haul was from two high-value individuals arrested in two separate operations in Angeles City and in Mariveles, Bataan last Aug. 17.

“The continuous apprehensions of drug-related individuals, coupled with the unwavering commitment of the police force, will deter the spread of illegal substances. Those involved in the drug trade will encounter diminished opportunities to proliferate illicit substances,” Hidalgo said in a statement on Monday.

Aside from illegal drugs, he said the PRO-3 has also intensified its campaign against wanted persons and illegal gambling activities.

Of the 132 arrested fugitives, he said 15 were most wanted persons and 117 others committed various crimes like murder, frustrated murder and rape.

"The apprehensions send a clear message to those evading the law that Central Luzon is not a refuge for criminals. PRO-3 will persistently intensify its operations across the region, ensuring a secure environment for law-abiding citizens,” he said.

Meanwhile, Hidalgo said 124 persons were arrested for illegal gambling operations that led to the confiscation of PHP108,067 in money bets. (PNA)
