DUMAGUETE CITY – Police operatives arrested on Wednesday morning an alleged gun-for-hire and seized firearms and ammunition in Barangay Lumbangan, Mabinay town in Negros Oriental.

Albert Kadusale Durango, an alleged member of the criminal gang, Birador Group, was arrested at his residence during the service of a search warrant for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, a report from the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) said.

Confiscated during the police operation were a caliber .45 pistol; a caliber Super .38; several rounds of live ammunition of different calibers; fired cartridges; a pistol box; a sling box; an inside holster; and two pouches for ammunition.

Durango, according to the police, is engaged in gun-for-hire activities in the province of Negros Oriental and was allegedly involved in the killing of Police Master Sgt. Jesedem Amorganda Carriaga in Mabinay town in 2021.

His arrest came as uniformed personnel in Negros Oriental stepped up their security measures amid the election period.

The suspect is now detained at the Mabinay Police Station for proper booking procedures as police prepare the filing of appropriate complaints against him before the Office of the City Prosecutor in this capital city. (PNA)
