CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – A trade fair showcasing products of the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) kicked off this year’s Tanglawan Festival in the City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan on Thursday.

A total of 40 MSMEs put on sale food and non-food products that include native delicacies, pastries, as well as fashion jewelry and other accessories, at the Hapag Tanglawan Trade Fair at the City of San Jose Del Monte River Park Esplanade as part of the festival’s activities until Sept. 10.

“Simula na po ngayong araw ang masayang selebrasyon ng Tanglawan Festival. Isama na ang pamilya at sama-sama nating bisitahin at suportahan ang ating mga negosyanteng San Joseño sa Hapag Tanglawan Trade Fair kung saan tampok ang iba’t ibang masasarap na pagkain at mga dekalidad na produktong likha ng ating mga San Joseño MSMEs (Today is the start of the celebration of the Tanglawan Festival. Let us bring our families and together, let us visit and support our San Joseño at the Hapag Tanglawan Trade Fair, which features a variety of delicious and quality products made by our San Joseño MSMEs),” Mayor Arthur B. Robes said in a statement.

The opening ceremony of the Hapag Tanglawan Trade Fair at 4 p.m. Thursday was rescheduled for Friday due to inclement weather.

The City of San Jose Del Monte - Business Development Office, in its advisory, however, said sales and operation of the trade fair will continue until 9 p.m. Thursday.

Meanwhile, Rep. Florida Robes said the Tanglawan Festival shows that "we will continue to progress and carry out our plans for the good of the lives of our beloved San Joseño.”

Aside from the trade fair, other activities lined up during the celebration are a cultural fashion show and exhibit, car show, light festival and concert.

Governor Daniel Fernando, in his message, saw it a great honor to be part of the festivity, saying it symbolizes the city’s rich cultural history, as well as progress and development as a community.

“Sa loob ng mahabang panahon ay ipinamalas ninyo ang kayang maabot ng mamamayang nagkakaisang kumikilos para sa iisang adhikan – ang magtaguyod ng isang maunlad, matatag at mapayapang lungsod. Ako po ay taos pusong nakikiisa sa makinang na selebrasyon ng 8th Tanglawan Festival na sumasalamin sa ilaw ng pag-asa na syang tanglaw ng bawat isang San Joseño (For a long time, you have demonstrated what can be achieved by the people who are united for one cause – to build a prosperous, stable and peaceful city. I am participating in the celebration of the Tanglawan Festival, which reflects the light of hope that guides every San Joseño),” the governor said.

Launched in 2016, the festival, whose name is derived from the root word “ilaw” or light, symbolizes the light that will guide the San Joseños into a bright future ahead. (PNA)
