MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday said non-communicable diseases such as diabetes could be prevented through healthy lifestyle and not by certain products sold online.

This, after an article using the name of DOH Secretary Teodoro Herbosa and the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) circulated online.

The article talked about DOH cooperating with UP-PGH to help Filipinos with diabetes find the right method to stabilize their blood sugar at home.

"The DOH clarifies that no such scenario or statement has been made by the department and its officials," the agency said in a public advisory.

It also reminded everyone that communicable diseases and comorbidities may be avoided through proper diet and regular exercises among others.

"Criminal charges may be pressed if related post/s shall persist," it said.

The DOH also enjoined the public to source information only from legitimate sources and platforms of government agencies. (PNA)
