MANILA – Government workers will get free rides at the MRT-3 and LRT-2 from Sept. 18-20 in celebration of the 123rd civil service anniversary.

In separate advisories, the management of the two rail lines said eligible riders only need to show a valid government ID from 7 a.m.-9 a.m. and 5 p.m.-7 p.m.

Transportation Assistant Secretary for Railways and MRT-3 officer in charge Jorjette Aquino said the giving of free rides is a way to thank civil servants for their services.

"Kami po sa MRT-3 ay taos-pusong nakikiisa sa pagdiriwang ng anibersaryo ng Philippine Civil Service. Ang handog naming libreng sakay simpleng pasasalamat sa lahat ng mga sakripisyo ng bawat kawani ng gobyerno upang magampanan nang tapat at maayos ang kanilang mga tungkulin (We at MRT-3 are one in the celebration of the Philippine Civil Service anniversary. This is our simple way of saying thank you to the sacrifices of our civil servants in carrying out their duties)," she said.

The MRT-3 line runs from Taft Avenue in Pasay City to North Avenue in Quezon City while the LRT-2 stretches from Recto in Manila to Antipolo in Rizal province. (PNA)
