MANILA – A resident of Cavite who once thought that the Lotto games were just scams had the biggest turnaround of her life after becoming one of two winners in a recent Lotto draw.
The Cavite resident was a co-winner of the Aug. 15 Super Lotto 6/49 draw that carried a jackpot of PHP31.7 million and claimed her share recently, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) said in a statement on Tuesday.
The other winner is from Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu and has yet to claim half of the jackpot prize.
The winner from Cavite shared that her lucky numbers were based on their family’s birthdates.
“Kala ko na joke lang mga jackpot winners. Ngayon alam ko na ang pakiramdam! Totoo pala ang Lotto at ang mga nag ke-claim ng jackpot prizes (I used to say that jackpot winners were just a joke. Now I know what it feels like! It turns out that Lotto and those who claim jackpot prizes are real)," she said.
She said this changed her outlook toward the state lottery games.
"Napapanood ko noon sa TV yung Lotto draws pero never ko naisip na meron nga talagang nananalo dito. Hindi ko alam ako na pala yung susunod na tatama (I used to watch the Lotto draws on TV, but I never thought that there was actually a winner. Little did I know that I was going to be the next winner),” she added.

To avoid forfeiture of winnings, winners have one year from the date of the draw to claim the prize, as specified in Republic Act 1169.
The PCSO reminded the public that all Lotto jackpot prizes must be claimed at the PCSO Main Office, Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong City.
To claim prizes, winners must write their names and sign at the back of the winning ticket, and present two government-issued IDs.
The public is encouraged to keep on patronizing the products of PCSO as a large chunk of its revenues goes to charity programs. (PNA)
