BUTUAN CITY – The Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13) said 47 of its high-ranking police officers underwent a surprise drug test during a command conference here Tuesday night.

Maj. Jennifer Ometer, PRO-13 information office chief, said members of the command group and regional staff, provincial and city directors, commanders of mobile forces, and the chiefs of support units were the ones tested.

“The PRO-13 forensic office will release the results of the drug test by Thursday,” Ometer said in a phone interview on Wednesday.

PRO-13 director Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft said the move aims to ensure that unit commanders serve as role models to their subordinates and to the community amid the intensified campaign against illegal drugs.

"Under my command, I will not tolerate any form of misconduct, especially when it involves substance abuse," he said in a statement.

He warned that those who test positive for drug use will be subject to the full extent of the law. (PNA)
