MANILA – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced Tuesday afternoon that general aviation or non-commercial flights have been suspended at Basco Airport due to Typhoon Jenny.

Batanes has been under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 and minor to moderate impacts from gale-force winds are possible, according to the weather bureau.

In addition, heavy rainfall was forecast over Batanes and Babuyan Islands.

CAAP, meanwhile, said despite the weather, two PAL Express flights were able to land and depart at 7:20 a.m. and 9:03 a.m., respectively.

Basco Airport's management has been coordinating with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council and other concerned agencies.

Jenny was last tracked 325 km. east of Itbayat, Batanes, and stormy weather is expected to continue across the province. (PNA)
