MANILA – The Bureau of Customs (BOC) exceeded its September collection target by PHP2.78 billion.

According to data released on Wednesday, the bureau’s total collection last month reached PHP79.22 billion, which is 3.6 percent higher than its PHP76.44 billion collection target for the month.

The BOC also topped its revenue target for January to September, with a total collection of PHPP660.72 billion.

This translates to a 2.57 percent increase compared to its PHP644.18 billion collection target for the nine-month period.

Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio attributed the positive collection performance to effective customs operations, increased trade activity, and rigorous revenue collection efforts.

He also reported that a total of 730 anti-smuggling operations resulted in the seizure of PHPP35.96 billion worth of smuggled goods.

At the same time, Rubio cited the recent collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry, Strategic Trade Management Office, and ARISE Plus Philippines to promote the facilitation of customs procedures and improve trade competitiveness. (PNA)
