TACLOBAN CITY – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will open its Civil Registration Services (CRS) outlet in Catarman, Northern Samar, the third facility of its kind in Samar Island.

The provincial government said residents of Northern Samar would not have to travel to Catbalogan City in Samar or Tacloban City to obtain copies of birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, and certificates of no marriage.

The soft opening of CRS outlet at the corner of Bonifacio and Quezon Streets in Catarman town is on October 25.

"We extend our sincere appreciation to National Statistician Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa, Regional Director Wilma Perante, and other PSA officials for facilitating our request. This CRS outlet will not only benefit the people of Northern Samar but also our neighboring provinces," Ongchuan said in a statement on Friday.

The provincial government made the request to PSA to set up a CRS outlet in Northern Samar during Mapa’s visit last April this year in the province.

The CRS is a project aimed at enhancing public service delivery. It expedites the processing of requests, reduces waiting times at application and payment counters, and improves facilities, ultimately improving convenience for the public.

Currently, there are four CRS outlets in the region located in Tacloban City in Leyte, Catbalogan City in Samar, Borongan City in Eastern Samar, and Maasin City in Eastern Samar. (PNA)
