MANILA – Most areas in Luzon will get rain showers due to three weather systems, the weather bureau said Tuesday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) continues to monitor a low-pressure area (LPA) 470 km. east of Virac, Catanduanes.

"It has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours," PAGASA forecaster Patrick del Mundo said.

He added that the LPA might head toward the Bicol region.

"There's a huge chance the LPA will dissipate once it reaches that area," del Mundo said.

On Tuesday, the trough of the LPA, as well as the shear line will cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Visayas, Bicol, Mimaropa, Quezon, and Aurora.

Moderate to heavy rains in those areas may result in flash floods or landslides, according to PAGASA.

The northeast monsoon will bring light rains over Batanes, Cagayan, and Isabela, and isolated light rains over the Ilocos and Cordillera regions, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and the rest of Central Luzon.

PAGASA said the rest of the country will continue to experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail across Luzon.

The Visayas and Mindanao will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)
