MANILA – Navyman Anfernee Lopena won the men's 100-meter in the Elite/Open division of the 2023 Cel Logistics, Inc. Weekly Relay Series Finals at Philsports track and field stadium in Pasig City on Saturday.
The 29-year-old national athlete clocked 10.47 seconds to beat University of the Philippines’ Ahlryan Labita (10.66s) and Mapua's Vince Jayson Buhayan (10.73s).
"I'm happy with my performance today," said the 5-foot-8 Lopena, a native of Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
He registered a personal best of 10.41s in the same venue during last year's Philippine National Open.
Lopena won five gold medals -- three in 100m and two in 200m -- as a member of the College of St. Benilde track team under coach Joseph Sy from 2014 to 2017.
Meanwhile, University of Santo Tomas’ (UST) Angel Ann Panisa ruled the women's 100m in 12.00s, beating national athlete Jessel Lumapas (12.16s) and La Salle's Hannah Jandra Delotavo (12.27s).
Other winners were Mapua's Leonard Grospe (men's high jump), La Salle's Abcd Agamanos (women's triple jump) and Daniella Daynata (women's discus throw), Russel Ricaforte (men's discus throw), UST's Leonalyn Raterta (women's 3000m Walk), Far Eastern University's Susan Ramadan (women's 1500m), national team's Sarah Dequinan (women's high jump), Clinton Kingsley Bautista (men's 110m hurdles), Jelly Pragile (women's 100m hurdles), Hussein Loraña (men's 400m), Bernalyn Bejoy (women's 400m), Sonny Wagdos (men's 1500m), Melvin Calano (men's javelin throw) and Gennah Malapit (women's javelin throw).
