MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – Eighty percent of over 22,000 teachers in Pangasinan who served during the Oct. 30 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) have received their honoraria as of Tuesday, with full disbursement targeted by Nov. 10.

Commission on Elections Pangasinan provincial election supervisor lawyer Marino Salas, in a phone interview, said they target to complete the release of honoraria until Friday this week, earlier than the Nov. 14 deadline or 15 days after the conduct of the election as mandated under the law.

“Most of the poll workers in the towns and cities have already received 100 percent of their honoraria but in some huge cities and towns, they are still on the process (of releasing it),” he said, citing that disbursement of the honoraria started last week.

Salas said the chairman of the electoral board is entitled to a PHP10,000 honorarium, while the electoral board members are eligible to receive PHP9,000 each.

“Their honoraria increased by PHP4,000 this BSKE,” he said.

Meanwhile, Salas reminded all BSKE candidates of their responsibility to file their Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) until Nov. 29 or within 30 days after polls.

There were over 57,000 candidates from the province who run during the Oct. 30 BSKE.

There are 6,330 clustered precincts and 2.1 million registered voters in Pangasinan. (PNA)
