MANILA – The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) and the Philippine College of Criminology (PCCR) on Friday inked a memorandum of agreement to further boost their collaboration on academe development, career placement, and research.

BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. and PCCR president Ma. Angelica Lei G. Bautista signed the agreement that would allow PCCR students to take internships at the BuCor.

Under the deal, the BuCor will also consider PCCR alumni for employment while the bureau will allow its employees to teach at PCCR on a part-time basis as guest lecturers or visiting professors.

The BuCor and PCCR also agreed to collaborate on the continuous improvement of the PCCR’s study programs and relevant research projects that will improve the quality of criminal justice education in the country.

The PCCR also agreed to grant education discounts and provide scholarships to BuCor employees and/or their dependents in any of the school’s programs.

Under the agreement, the PCCR will have special programs for persons deprived of liberty to promote their mental health, resilience, and emotional well-being.

The deal will also provide behavior modification programs, for instance, skill-building workshops aimed at developing practical life skills, such as communication, problem-solving, and decision-making.

The PCCR also agreed to offer the Continuing Professional Development program for employees or members of the BuCor and those who wish to pursue their higher education through the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program.

The PCCR will also develop and deliver a comprehensive Cybersecurity Certification Program to BuCor employees, covering essential cybersecurity concepts, practices, and industry-standard certifications. (PNA)
