MANILA – The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) has announced that it will provide "trauma healing sessions" to the victims of the deadly bombing at the Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City that killed four people and wounded at least 50 others last Dec. 3.
"We are committed to conduct trauma healing sessions for the victims, especially in the recent bomb attack in Marawi City," OPAPRU Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said in a statement Wednesday night.
Trauma healing sessions are designed to help victims and survivors of violent events get over their distress.
"Through this invention, we hope to help the victims recover emotionally from the harrowing incident and move forward," Galvez stressed.
Meanwhile, Galvez said they are expecting more communist rebels to surrender with the amnesty program announced by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
"And with the upcoming roll-out of our amnesty program for former rebels, we believe that many more will be encouraged to turn away from armed struggle, lay down their arms, and return to the folds of the law," he added.
Galvez added that the Philippines has shown to the world that "good things come to those who choose and walk the path of peace."
He also assured the public that the Marcos administration is committed to building upon and sustaining the gains of the comprehensive peace process. (PNA)
