BUTUAN CITY – Officials of Surigao City and the Department of Labor and Employment in the Caraga Region (DOLE-13) have inked a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the PHP4.1-million Kabuhayan Program.

“The program aims to create more employment opportunities, development of human resources, and ensure the welfare of workers in the city,” the city government said in a statement on Friday.

The MOA signing took place Wednesday between Surigao City Mayor Pablo Yves Dumlao II and DOLE-13 Regional Director Joffrey Suyao.

The program is among the initiatives of the DOLE with a focus on poverty reduction and inclusive economic development.

The program’s PHP4.1 million budget will benefit around 140 residents coming from identified sectors that need immediate interventions through livelihood programs.

Among the beneficiaries are 17 individuals from the children’s sector and 123 residents from the Muslim community in the city. (PNA)
