MANILA – Mindanao and some areas in Luzon will experience rains due to the easterlies and the northeast monsoon (amihan), the weather bureau said Tuesday.

In its 5 a.m. weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the easterlies will prevail across Mindanao.

The northeast monsoon will bring rains over Cagayan Valley, Aurora and Quezon, it added.

Moderate to heavy rains in those areas may also result in flash floods or landslides.

PAGASA added that the northeast monsoon will also bring light rains over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Central Luzon and the rest of Calabarzon, but no significant impact is expected.

The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, strong winds and rough seas are forecast over Northern Luzon.

The rest of Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)
