MANILA – The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and Next Generation Advocate Foundation PH Inc. (NEXT GEN) on Tuesday signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) on beefing up the government's response operations during emergencies and disasters.

OCD administrator Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno and NEXT GEN's treasurer Princess Go signed the MOA in simple rites at the OCD headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City on Tuesday, the OCD said in a news release Wednesday.

"As per the terms of the agreement, NEXT GEN will provide support to the government's response operations by furnishing resources such as relief goods for disaster and emergency victims as recommended by the OCD. Additionally, NEXT GEN will assist in other projects and activities related to response efforts," the OCD said.

Nepomuceno thanked the organization for collaborating with the OCD in response operations, noting the importance of ensuring timely and adequate assistance to populations affected by disasters.

He also highlighted the broader positive impact of the agreement on all Filipinos, particularly the younger generation.

"We have to help the younger generation understand the importance of preparedness and the need for a reliable system in the event of major calamities," he said.

Meanwhile, Go conveyed the foundation’s steadfast commitment to supporting the OCD and serving Filipino communities.

“Let us remember the spirit that brought us together. The spirit of resilience, compassion, bayanihan, and a shared commitment to be there for our communities. May this collaboration be a beacon of hope for those who need it most and may our collective effort pave the way for a safer, more resilient Philippines.” she added.
