CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – The 7th most wanted person in this province was arrested by lawmen while trying to secure a police clearance in the municipality of Bay.

Col. Gauvin Mel Unos, acting provincial police director, on Thursday, identified the suspect as “Genesis,” who has an active warrant of arrest for rape and is currently under the Bay Municipal Police Station’s custody.

No bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.

The suspect was apprehended on Valentine’s Day when he walked into a police station to apply for a clearance, which he needed for a job application.

Unos urged employers to demand police clearances from all applicants, to ensure that they are upstanding citizens and not fugitives from justice.

“A reminder to our employers, make it a habit to ask for National Police Clearances to all those seeking jobs at your businesses, so you are assured that the individuals you end up hiring are not criminals or wanted by police,” he said in Filipino. (PNA)
