MANILA – The northeast monsoon or "amihan" affecting Luzon will bring light rains across the island, the weather bureau said Monday.

Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon will experience light rains, while the rest of Luzom will have isolated light rains.

The rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

Severe thunderstorms could result in flash floods or landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

"The easterlies are also forecast to cause thunderstorms across the Visayas and Mindanao," PAGASA forecaster Obet Badrina said.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Northern Luzon and the eastern section of the country.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.

Badrina said no tropical cyclone is expected to develop or enter the country until the end of February. (PNA)
